National News
India will have 9 nuclear reactors by 2024
India will build nine nuclear reactors by 2024 and the first nuclear reactor will be established in northern India, which will come up 150 km away from Delhi in Gorakhpur of Haryana.
- By the year 2024, the country will have 9 nuclear reactors plus 12 new additional ones. the projects were approved during the Covid times with a capacity of 9000 MW.
- Along with it, nuclear energy will become one of the most important sources of alternative or clean energy for the increasing power demand in India.
- India will focus to reduce the emissions intensity of its economy by a third from 2005 levels by 2030.

UP Gets 2nd Earth Station For Doordarshan Kendra
The Information and Broadcasting Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has inaugurated the Earth Station of Doordarshan Kendra at Gorakhpur. during the inauguration, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present.
- UP based earth station of Doordarshan will be 2nd earth station of Doordarshan and will have an outlay of Rs.7 crore.
- They have also inaugurated three FM relay centres of 10KW each at Etawah, Gadania in Lakhimpur Kheri and Nanpara in Bahraich districts.
- Gorakhpur Doordarshan Kendra will telecast a one-hour-long programme in Bhojpuri.
Ratan Tata to confer Assam’s highest civilian award
The state govt of Assam will honour industrialist Ratan Naval Tata with the Assam Baibhav award for his contribution towards cancer care facilities in the state.
- Assam Govt has planned to confer Assam Baibhav 2021, Assam Saurav 2021 and Assam Gaurav Awards 2021 to 19 personalities and the award ceremony will be conducted on January 24th, 2022.
- Assam Baibhav award will be presented to Ratan Tata, and Assam Saurav award will be distributed to 5 personalities including Prof Kamalendu Deb Krori, Dr Lakshmanan S, Prof Dipak Chand Jain, Lovlina Borgohain and Neel Pawan Baruah.

Pradip Shah appointed as Chairman of National Asset Reconstruction Company
The founder of IndAsia Fund Advisors Mr Pradip Shah has been appointed as the chairman of National Asset Reconstruction Company (NARCL) and Aditya Birla Asset Reconstruction Company managing director Sanjay Jain has been elected as the chief executive of India Debt Resolution Company (IDRCL).
- The asset management company (AMC) has decided to resolve bad loans acquired by NARCL.
- Shah studied an MBA from Harvard and chartered accountant. he founded India’s first and largest housing finance company, HDFC, and ratings firm Crisil.

OECD slashes India growth forecast to 9.4% for FY22
The organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has slashed India’s growth forecast to 9.4% for FY22 from 9.7% estimated in September 2021. however, the agency has also estimated that Indian GP will increase at 8.1% in FY23, and moderate to 5% in FY24.
- OECD has projected the global growth forecast for 2021 from 5% to 5.6%.
- OECD has marked this deterioration due to the enduring negative legacy of the pandemic on key parameters such as investment in new machinery and more.

Federal Bank launches an exclusive feature-rich scheme for women
Private sector lender Federal Bank has launched an exclusive feature-rich scheme for women called “Mahila Mitra Plus”. it will offer a curated set of features, has been designed to make financial planning and investments easy for women.
- The Scheme will cover exclusive preferential interest rates on housing loans, processing fee waiver for home loans, complimentary and customised insurance cover.
- It will also encourage Women to open savings accounts in the names of their minor children through the provision of two zero balance savings accounts.

World Cooperative Monitor report 2021: IFFCO tops
The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has ranked ‘number one Cooperative’ among the top 300 cooperatives in the world. the World Cooperative Monitor report 2021’s ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.
- It highlights that IFFCO has contributed significantly to the GDP and economic growth of the country.
- The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) has released the 2021 edition of the 10th Annual World Cooperative Monitor (WCM) report
- IFFCO has improved its position from 65th (in last year) to 60th Position in overall Turnover ranking.
