Centre makes a 5 member committee to monitor implementation of Central Vista Project

Govt of India has made a committee of 5 members to ensure that its Central Vista project is completed in a timely manner. The former finance secretary Ratan P Watal has been appointed as the head of the committee.

  • Central Vista Oversight Committee aims to ensure coordination among multi-agency and stakeholder for seamless integration of different project works of Central Vista.
  • The 20,000-crore Central Vista project includes Rs 971 crore’s a new Parliament building and Rs 13,450 crore’s new residences of the prime minister and the vice president.

  2. Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) -P K Tiwari,
  3. Former director of L&T – Shailendar Roy
  4. IIT Delhi professor – Prof. Mausam

7th India International Science Festival (IISF)

The 7th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) will be conducted in Panaji, Goa. The 7th IISF Festival will be organized for four days from 10th December to 13th December 2021.

  • The Departments of Atomic Energy (DAE), Science and Technology (DST), Biotechnology (DBT), and Space (DoS) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will conduct this four-day India International Science Festival (IISF).
  • The main purpose of this festival is to build a strategy for rural India through the advancement of Science and Technology.
  • India International Science Festival 2021 intends to inspire curiosity and make learning more rewarding.
  • The theme of IISF 2021 is – “Celebrating Creativity, Science, Technology and Innovation for a prosperous India”.

Indian Railways Constructing World’s Tallest Pier Bridge in Manipur

The Indian Railways is building the tallest pier railway bridge in the world in Manipur. World’s Tallest Pier Bridge in Manipur is a part of the Jiribam-Imphal railway line and it will also connect the northeastern state with the rest of the country.

  • At present, the tallest pier bridge record was built at 139-metre high Mala-Rijeka viaduct at Montenegro in Europe.
  • The Mainpur’s Pier Bridge will be built at a height of 141 metres., and it will have a length of 703 metres.
  • The bridge will help passengers to cover 111 km of distance in 2-2.5 hrs.
  • the cost of the bridge will be Rs 374 crore.

The govt of India has appointed senior bureaucrat Vivek Johri as the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

  • Vivek Johri is serving as a member of the CBIC, handling GST and tax policy, and will take place of M Ajit Kumar whose tenure is about to complete on November 30, 2021.
  • Vivek is a 1985-batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) officer.
