Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022

Every year, Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed in honour of the war heroes. the campaign ‘Operation Vijay’ was held on July 26, 1999, and saw the Indian Army seizing back control of key outposts in Ladakh after ousting Pakistani troops from the region. In 2022, Indians celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the incredible victory of the Indian Armed Forces,

  • Top military officers, family members of the army personnel, and others were present to mark the commencement of the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations and lit 559 lamps at the Kargil War Memorial in the Drass area of Ladakh, in a tribute to the martyrs.
  • Indian Air Force (IAF) also conducted Operation White Sea during the Kargil war in 1999.
  • the Indian Air Force jointly acted with the Indian Army to blush out regular and irregular troops of the Pakistani army.

Har Ghar Tiranga

Har Ghar Tiranga is a campaign which has been launched by the Indian Govt under the Azad ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign aims to encourage citizens to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it in the 75th year of India’s independence. it will help in making the relationship between citizens and Tiranga in formal way. This campaign will also allow bringing the national flag home on the occasion of the 75th year of Independence.

  • The hoisting/use/display of the National Flag “Tiranga” is governed by the Govt of India under the Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act, 1971, and the Flag Code of India 2022.
  • The Tiranga is the hopes and aspirations of the people of India.
  • It is the national symbol of our pride and respect.
  • It contains a unique identity in everyone’s life.


Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah appointed as new Prime Minister of Kuwait

The Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has elected Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as the Prime Minister of Kuwait. Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is the eldest son of the Kuwaiti Emir.

  • Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah will replace Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah who resigned in May 2022 as the new PM.


Sports Authority launches “Create for India” campaign

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has launched a new initiative called “Create for India” to cheer Indian contingents participating in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

  • A 215-member Indian athlete contingent will join the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and will participate across 16 disciplines in this sports event.
  • the event is scheduled to take place from July 28, 2022 to August 08, 2022.

Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver in World Athletics Championship 2022

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra won a historic silver medal at the World Athletics Championships final with an 88.13m throw. Grenadian Anderson Peters won the gold medal with a giant 90.54 metres effort. Olympic silver winner Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic clinched the bronze with 88.09m.

  • During the event, he made his first throw was a foul throw, in his second attempt he threw 82.39m, followed by his third attempt of 86.37m and his fourth and final attempt was 88.13m
  • Anderson Peters recorded a throw of 90.54m in his final attempt.

BCCI begins a new A+ category for umpires

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has launched a new A+ category for its umpires and ICC Elite Panel member Nitin Menon is among 10 officials grouped in the newly introduced A+ category of BCCI umpires. Umpires in A+ and A categories will be paid Rs 40,000 a day for a first-class game while Rs 30,000 a day will be paid in the B and C category.

  • A+ category includes four international umpires — Anil Chaudhary, Madangopal Jayaraman, Virender Kumar Sharma and K N Ananthapadmabhanan and Rohan Pandit, Nikhil Patwardhan, Sadashiv Iyer, Ulhas Gandhe and Navdeep Singh Sidhu.
