NITI Aayog Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Shoonya Campaign

NITI Aayog has conducted a day-long forum, aimed at marking the one-year anniversary of Shoonya, India’s zero pollution e-mobility campaign. During Celebrating One-Year Anniversary of the Shoonya Campaign, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, NITI Aayog CEO Param Iyer, MyGov CEO Abhishek Singh, Delhi Government Principal Secretary Ashish Kundra, Mahindra Electric Mobility CEO Suman Mishra were present.

  • Shoonya is a consumer awareness campaign which aims to reduce air pollution by promoting the use of electric vehicles (EVs) for ride-hailing and deliveries.
  • 130 industries including ride-hailing, delivery and EV companies are partners of the Shoonya campaign.

Narayan Rane Chairs 18th meeting of National Board of MSME

Union Minister of MSME, Shri Narayan Rane headed the 18th meeting of the National Board of MSME (NBMSME). Minister of State for MSME, Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma was also present during the event.

  • Narayan Rane also introduced the portal for the scheme for the promotion of MSMEs in the North East Region (NER) and Sikkim and also launched the integration of Udyam and NCS portals.
  • Ministry of MSME and Common Service Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Udyam Registration Portal which aims to expand the handholding support to enterprises residing in remote areas.

ECI releases BLO e-Patrika to establish direct communication with Booth Level Officers

The Election Commission of India released a new digital publication ‘BLO e-Patrika’ at an interactive session which was held with BLOs spread across the States in India. BLO E-Patrika aims to make ensure a cascading information model for a better informed and motivated Booth Level Officer.

  • The Patrika offers a platform for three-way communication – A platform for ECI to share instructions to ground level, share feedback and success stories and facilitate learning of interstate best practices.
  • The themes of the bimonthly e-Patrika will have subjects such as EVM-VVPAT training, IT applications, Special Summary Revision, Minimum SVEEP Activities at polling booths, Postal Ballot facility, accessible elections, Electoral Literacy Clubs, unique voter awareness initiatives and National Voters’ Day.

Sports Ministry signs MoU with NTPC, REC; 2 PSUs pledge Rs 215 crore to NSDF

The Sports Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with NTPC with the two PSUs pledging Rs 215 crores to the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF). Rs 115 crore will be provided by NTPC for the development of Archery and Rs 100 crore will be offered by REC for women’s hockey and boxing.

  • NTPC will support the archers in partnership with the Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Archery Association of India (AAI).
  • The MoU aims to provide world-class facilities with international exposure to talented players.

Union Cabinet approves more castes in STs List

Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi chaired Union Cabinet on 14th September 2022 and has given approval for the inclusion of several communities in the Schedule Tribes (STs) list of the Constitution across 5 states including Himachal Pradesh (HP), Tamil Nadu (TN), Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Chhattisgarh, as a part of the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2022.

  • Hatti community (living in the Trans-Giri region of HP) will be added to the Schedule Tribes (STs) list of the Constitution.
  • The Binjhia community has been added to the list and approved synonyms for tribes to 12 existing tribes in the ST list including Bharia (variations added include Bhumia and Bhuyian), Gadhwa (Gadwa), Dhanwar (Dhanawar, Dhanuwar), Nagesia (Nagasia, Kisan), and Pondh (Pond), among others.
  • The inclusion of ‘Narikoravan’ and ‘Kurivikkaran’ communities have proposed for the list of state’s STs.
  • Govt approved ‘Betta-Kuruba’ as a synonym for the Kadu Kuruba tribe In Karnataka.

Darjeeling zoo in Bengal recognised as best in India, Kolkata’s Alipore grabs 4th spot

The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP) in West Bengal’s Darjeeling has been recognised as the best zoo in India and Kolkata’s Alipore Zoological Garden has been ranked at the 4th place. Central Zoo Authority released the ranking list in the Odisha capital after the A zoo directors’ conference which was conducted in Bhubaneswar on September 10th, 2022.

Maharashtra digitises property registrations & unveils ‘Self Help’ portal for e-registrations

Maharashtra government begins the e-registration of properties to be sold by realty developers making the whole process which will contain the usage of blockchain technology, a much more transparent affair.

  • Maharashtra becomes the first in the country to start the new process.
  • the new process will enable e-registrations of properties and facilitate the e-registration of agreement of first sale and resale transactions.
  • Maharashtra Govt also launched the ‘Self Help’ portal for e-registration.
  • developers and homebuyers can also upload their own template for the agreement, which once approved could be used by the developers for several such transactions.
  • Homebuyers will not require to visit the stamp duty and registration office under the new e-process.

Fitch cuts India FY23 GDP growth forecast to 7%

Global rating agency Fitch has slashed India’s economic growth forecast for fiscal 2022-23 (FY23) to 7% from its June 2022 estimate of 7.8%. Fitch also expects the GDP will get slowed further to 6.7% in FY24 as compared to its earlier forecast of 7.4%.

  • As per Fitch, the world GDP will grow by 2.4% in 2022 – revised down by 0.5% points (ppt) since the June assessment – and by just 1.7% in 2023, a cut of 1 percentage points (ppt).
  • US growth has also been revised down to 1.7% in 2022 and 0.5% in 2023, revisions of 1.2pp and 1.0pp respectively.

LIC cuts stake in Glaxo Pharma to 4.357%

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has slashed its stake in GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals from 6.402% to 4.357%. it has sold about 34.20 lakh shares or 2.045% of its holding in the global pharma major during September 2018-22 period.

  • The stake sale was at an average price of ₹1,549.40 and Shares of insurance major closed 1%lower at ₹663.20, while those of Glaxo slid 0.55% at ₹1,409.90.
  • General Insurance Corporation of India also has a 1.42% stake in GlaxoSmithKline Pharma.

RattanIndia Enterprises launched its first anti-drone product named ‘Defender.’ Defender anti-drone has been developed by RattanIndia Enterprises’ step-down subsidiary Throttle Aerospace Systems. Rattan India runs its drone business in India through NeoSky India.

  • Defender anti-drone is made of 70% indigenous product with a 30% import component of BLDC motor and batteries.
