1. In order to Supply Power Directly on the Railway Overhead Line, Indian Railways plans for Solar Plant in Bina

  • The Ministry of Railways has planned to set up solar power plants on its vacant unused lands on mega scale and decided to utilise solar energy for meeting its traction power requirements to be a complete ‘Green mode of transportation’.
  • With the help of Solar Power, it will give acceleration to the mission of Shri Piyush Goyal ji, the Union Minister of Railways to get ‘Net Zero’ Carbon Emission Railway.
  • The Railways of India will be as the first (1st) transport organisation that will be able to energy self- sufficient.

2. CBSE makes Partnerships with Facebook For Curriculum on Digital Safety, Augmented Reality

  • The HRD Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has announced that in order to launch a curriculum on Digital Safety and Online well-being and Augmented Reality (AR) for students and educators, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made partnership with Facebook.
  • The main purpose of it is to ensure online well-being of students and teach them for the future of work.

3. SDG Index 2020

  • As per SDG index 2020, India has got 117th rank with a score of 61.92. it shows that India is facing a lot of major challenges in 10 of the 17 SDGs such as zero hunger, good health, gender inequality and so on.
  • However, Sweden country has got thr first place in the indexing which scores 84.72. 166 UN Member States were included to study under SDG index 2020.

4. 5 MoUs between India and Afghanistan

  • The Indian govt has signed 5 Memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the neighbour country Afghanistan in order to make bilateral development partnership strong.
  • Objective – is to develop educational infrastructure in four Afghan provinces they are : Badakhshan, Nooristan, Farah and Kapisa.

7. NHRC installs 1-Member Committee to Assess Covid-19 Impact on Human Rights, K S Reddy will be as head of Committee

  • The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has established a 11- members committee that will work to study impact of coronavirus (Covid-19) on human rights of individuals. The president of Public Health Foundation of India Dr K S Reddy, has chosen as head of committee.

8. Reliance launches JioMeet

  • The Reliance Industries ownered by Mukesh Ambani, has introduced a video conferencing app named as JioMeetJioMeet will provide unlimited free calling and can be seen as a rival to Zoom.
  • Before launching JioMeet app, beta testing was done and later, Company made available the app across Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and web.
  • JioMeet will provide its support in HD audio and video call quality with up to 100 participants and will offer features such as screen sharing, meeting schedule feature and so on.
  • JioMeet will enable Calls for 24 hours and along with it, App will ensure encrypted and password-protected meetings.

9. IIT Roorkee Develops Unisaviour – Disinfection Box

  • The researchers of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee(IIT-R) has developed the disinfection box named as UnisaviourUnisaviour box will be helpful to sterilise various personal belongings to minimise the COVID-19 transmission.
  • The team of researchers which was led by Prof. Soumitra Satapathi, Laboratory of Integrated Nanophotonics and Biomaterials, made this box.


10. Akash as India’s 66th Grandmaster

  • 23-year-old Akash has got new achivement of being 66th Grandmaster of India. On 5th July 2020, Akash earned his 3rd Grandmaster norm in the National senior chess championship in Majhitar (Sikkim).
  • however, his rating has dropped from Elo mark of 2500. to reach at rating, Akash has played five tournaments in the world in last three months. Akash has played in Wijk Aan Zee (The Netherlands), Copenhagen (Denmark), Prague and Liberec (Czech Republic).


11. Urjit Patel, Ex RBI Governor wrote a Book titled ‘Overdraft: Saving the Indian Saver’
