Almost 32 crore indians to get benefits under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package

  • The Central Govt has decided to give 28000 Crore rupess to support through Direct Benefit Transfer to nearly 32 crore beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) during COVID-19 pandemic.
  • In addition, Finance Ministry has promulgated almost fourteen thousand crore to seven crore farmers under PM-KISAN scheme. the fund has been directly sent to farmers’s bank accounts via DBT.
  • Along with it, The Indian Govt has also planned to give Rs.10,000 crore to more than 19 crore Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) women account holders and others Rs.3,000 crore sent to 2 crore buildings and other constructions workers yet.

A Discussion Between PM Modi and state Chief Ministers to make strategy against COVID-19 pandemic

  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a discussion with all Chief Ministers of States, via a video conferencing to create the strategy to tackle COVID-19. many States suggested the Prime Minister to extend the lockdown for more two weeks.

  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare made an announcement that govt has ensured the supply of Personal protective equipments (PPE), N95 masks, testing kits for COVID-19 and ventilators for the COVID-19 patients. for this, centre has installed dedicated COVID-19 hospitals that have capacity of over 1 lakh isolation beds to provide proper treatment tp patients.

UV germicidal irradiation technology-based device

  • The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT-Ropar) has successfully developed a trunk-shaped device that has ultraviolet (UV) germicidal irradiation technology to sanitize grocery and currency notes.
  • The device will be kept at doorsteps and all products from outside should be passed to make them sanitized.
  • This device will be cost nearly 500 rupess
  • The whole process will take about 30 minutes to sanitize the items. after that, items need to be kept inside for a 10 minutes cooling-off period.

COVID-19 testing facility to Faridabad

  • The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) gave approval for the bioassay laboratory of the Dept of Biotechnology’s (DBT) Faridabad-based Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI).
