Every year, The Day of Illustrious Puerto Ricans is celebrated on the third Monday in February, aimed at honoring and remembering all the heroes of the revolution who helped to set up the foundation for the country’s independence. In 2024, it will be held on February 19. Eugenio María de Hostos, Luis Muñoz Rivera, José de Diego, and Dr. José Celso Barbosa played an important role in creating a national identity.
