The scholarship was established in honor of MES founder, Dick Pierce who passed away in 2011. The Maine Educational Services (MES) Foundation offers Dick’s life-long commitment to promote higher education. The program is a financial-need and merit-based scholarship to assist students who might not otherwise continue their post-secondary education without financial assistance.
One can get the Scholarships on a renewable basis for up to four years depending on the student’s grade level. To receive the renewable awards, students must hold a minimum of 12 credits per semester and maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Scholarship Details
- A $5,000 scholarship per student per year
- Scholarships can be renewable for up to 4 years (depending on the grade level of the student)
- A total of 10 scholarships will be given to eligible students

Eligibility Criteria

- Must be a Maine resident entering 1st year of post-secondary education
- Must Intend to enroll or be enrolled in a two (2) or four (4) year degree-granting college or university, which is accredited by the Association of Schools and Colleges
- Must have a strong desire to complete a degree program.
- You must have a minimum of 12 credits per semester and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
