The Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) is an annual competition, aimed to offer high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real-world engineering challenges in a team environment. Students will be asked to address a challenge that confronts our nation’s leading industries every year. The RWDC will offer students opportunities to apply the lessons of the classroom to the technical problems that are being faced in the workplace. This scholarship is available for any high school student in any country aged 13–20 years.

Applicants will be considered based on the feasibility, strength, and value proposition of their projects. Applicants must be constantly work on their project collaboratively in the team while having in mind the specific challenge to address.

STEPS FOR COMPETING IN THE CHALLENGE
Step 1: Review materials on the Getting Started Page To find important resources
- On the official website, click on the Getting Started page.
Step 2: Review the Challenge Materials
- Candidates will review the materials for the challenge.
Step 3: Work on the Challenge
You must prepare and submit an Engineering Design Notebook. Teams of judges will evaluate your work based on what you submit in your Engineering Design Notebook. You should use the headings in the Scoring Rubric as the headings in your Engineering Design Notebook.
Step 4: Submit your solution by the deadline
Candidates will have to turn in their Engineering Design Notebook to their State Coordinator and to Jeff Coppola (jeffcoppola@gmail.com).

Select team members with diverse skills
The project will teach you to collaborative approaches in a team when solving engineering problems. So, each team member should contain clearly defined roles that best match their passion and skills.
