Postdoctoral Fellowship in Aquatic Toxicology University of Northern British Columbia, Canada: Quesnel River Research Centre QRRC, Postdoctoral Fellow in Aquatic Toxicology University of Northern British Columbia January 15, 2024
Project Description
A postdoctoral fellow is wanted in a collaborative research project evaluating flood, fire and increasing temperature risks posed to upper Fraser watershed salmon stocks in a rapidly changing climate. The project will involve setting up, running, and analyzing the results of aquatic toxicology experiments designed to understand the effects of increasing water temperatures and wildfire-contaminated spawning habitat on Pacific salmon early life stages in the British Columbia interior. Gene expression analysis and visual behaviour tests will be used to further understand the effects of these changing conditions on the developing salmon. The larger multi-investigator research project seeks to define the influences of environmental change on sustaining salmonid populations within Quesnel Lake and large lakes in the region using a multidisciplinary approach. The position is funded for two years and will have an annual salary of $60,000/year. The successful candidate will be based at the Quesnel River Research Centre, Likely, BC. The position will start May 1, 2024.
