Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas as IMF’s chief economist, succeeds Gita Gopinath – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has decided to appoint a French-born University of California-Berkeley economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas as the next chief economist. Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas will replace Indian origin Gita Gopinath, who has been appointed the first deputy managing director of the IMF.
- Gourinchas will assume the charge on January 24th, 2022 and will take up on role on full-time basis from April 1, 2022.
