Odia scientist Debasisa Mohanty appointed as Director of NII – Odia scientist, Debasisa Mohanty has been appointed as Director of the National Institute of Immunology (NII). Currently, Debasisa is serving as a staff scientist at NII. His appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post and up to the age of his superannuation. The post of Director of NII was vacant after Rajesh Verma, Rajesh Verma is a 1987 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre and was appointed as Secretary to President Droupadi Murmu on August 18th, 2022.

- The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is an autonomous research institute which is situated in New Delhi and functions under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) for research in immunology.
- It was established on June 24th, 1981, with Prof. M. G. K. Menon as Chairman of its governing body.
