  • The day of 18th July is observed as Nelson Mandela International Day across the world. it is also known as Mandela Day. the main purpose of this day is to honour Nelson Mandela. Mandela was the South Africa’s first black president and been as Nobel Prize winner, and anti-apartheid icon.

History –

  • First time, this day was held on 18 July 2009, in New York. later, UN General Assembly (UNGA) decided to observe day on 10 November 2009. UNGA brought a resolution A/RES/64/13 that aims to recognize 18 July as the “International Day of Nelson Mandela”. the Day also marks to tell about her contribution to create and bring peace through his active participation in resolving disputes, addressing racial issues, international democracy and reconciliation, and the promotion of human rights.

Who is Nelson Mandela –

  • Mandela’s full name is Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa on 18 July 1918. Rolihlahla Mandela started her career in politics in 1942. after two years, in 1944, she became the part of African National Congress. Mandela also faced accused of treason in South Africa and was arrested on 5th December 1956.
