11 August 2020 Current Affairs: On the occasion of World Elephant Day, The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has started off National Portal named “Surakhsya“. Govt has launched its beta version that will collect real-time information on Human-Elephants Conflict.

SURAKHSYA Portal

  • This portal will see all management the conflict on a real-time basis.
  • in addition, it will play a role to get the data collection protocols data transmission pipelines tools in order to ensure policy-makers to leverage HEC data for policy formulation.
  • before this, SURAKHSYA portal’s beta version was introduced in order to test the pan India roll out for adoption by the states. it is expected to be done by this year.
  • Indian Govt is looking for saving Elephants and other animals. The centre is taking a lot of efforts towards robust, practical, and cost-effective solutions to clear all the Human-Animal Conflict.
