National Marching Band Day is observed on March 4 every year to celebrate the ‘march’ music genre. The genre features a strong regular rhythm expressly written for marching to and most frequently performed by military bands. The day aims to honor the dedicated musicians and composers of the sounds as well as its performers.
History
The origin of National Marching Band Day is associated with the founding of Drum Corps International (D.C.I.) by 13 founding member organizations that were seeking to govern and standardize marching band competitions throughout North America.
