MoAFW & MoFPI Launch a Convergence Portal to support Food Processing Enterprises – Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched a Convergence Portal between the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.

• Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare was also present during the launch of the convergence portal.
• It will add a new chapter to the lives of Micro Units engaged in food processing.
• It will be the milestone in achieving Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and will also promote the concept of ‘Vocal For Local’.

Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme

• Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched a centrally sponsored named PPMFME scheme on June 29th, 2020, aimed at boosting the competitiveness of individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment & promote the formalization of this sector.
• It also aims to offer financial, technical and business support for the upgradation of micro food processing enterprises.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana

• It is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries envisaged as a comprehensive package.
• It aims to make modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlet.
• Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojna is an umbrella scheme, that includes sub-schemes such as (i) Infrastructure for Agro-Processing Clusters (APC), (ii) Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC or UNIT), (iii) Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure (CCI), (iv) Food Testing Lab (FTL), (v) Operation Greens (OG) (vi) Research & Development Scheme (R&D).
