Lal Bahadur Shastri Death Anniversary on 11th Jan
The day of 11th January is marked as the death anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri. Shastri served as the 2nd Prime Minister of India. he led various portfolios in Jawaharlal Nehru-led Central govt. he also promoted both the White Revolution and Green Revolution in India.
He played an important role in Independence activities. he spent 2 and half years incarcerated in the decade.
Before the Freedom, Shastri Ji roled as an elected representative for United Provinces. he was also chosen as the Parliamentary Secretary after the freedom. apart from this, Shastri had served as the Minister of Police and Transport under Govind Ballah Pant’s Chief Ministership.
In 1951, he was elected as the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and he also gave his contribution in the party’s massive win in the 1952 General Elections. he received portfolios Railways and Transport (1951), Commerce and Industry (1959), Home Affairs (1961).
