  • it aims to take effective measures to protect and guarantee the inalienable rights of the people of the Non-Self-Governing Territories to their natural resources.
  • this day also establishes and maintains control over the future development of those resources and requests the administering powers to take measures to protect the property rights of the peoples in these Territories.

  • On 6th December 1999, The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the resolution A/RES/54/91.
  • The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) announced to celebrate the International Week of Solidarity with the Peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories starting from May 25.
  • In 2000, The week was observed for the first time.
