  • The main purpose of this day is to bridge the gap in perception and reality of diplomats’ lives among the general public.

  • In 2017, it was organised for the first time in Brazil’s capital Brasilia.
  • The 2nd International Day of Diplomats was observed in Brasilia and other capitals as well with the participation of diplomats from several countries on 24th October 2018.
  • The 3rd edition was observed in Antananarivo, Madagascar by the ambassadors.
  • Indian poet-diplomat Abhay K proposed this day to observe and the diplomats of Bangladesh, France, Ghana, Israel, Italy, Mexico, South Africa and Turkey made participation for this day.
