Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship 2024: Eligibility Criteria, Selection, Application Process

Higher Education Authority (HEA) offers the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship Program, providing 60 scholarships to eligible candidates who are looking to pursue Bachelor, Master or PhD courses at an eligible Irish higher education institution. The offer is open to students from non-EU/EEA countries and applies to all fields of study.

Successful students will receive:

  • A €10,000 stipend for one year’s study
  • A full fee waiver of all tuition and other registration costs at the higher education institution
  • Applications can be submitted via the online portal here.

The deadline for the submission of applications is 24 March 2023 at 5 pm (Irish Time).

Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship 2024 – Eligibility Criteria

  • Have a domiciliary of origin outside of the EU/EEA/Switzerland or United Kingdom
  • Have obtained an offer of a place in a full-time course at an eligible Irish higher education institution for either:
  • a. One year of a taught master’s degree program
  • b. One year of a research programme (i.e. one year of a 2-year research masters or a 3-4-year PhD programme).

You must check the course and its eligibility before applying for the scholarship to apply for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship.

  • Complete the application form via the Higher Education Authority’s official online portal.

  • Personal Statement with answers to the 3 questions asked
  • 2 references

Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship 2024 – Selection Process

The committee will consider all the applications based on the material provided to the HEA at the time of submission.
Students who do not have any alternative scholarships or other funding options will be given Priority.

  • country of origin of applicants;
  • proposed study cycle (Master, PhD) of applicants;
  • field of study of applicants;
  • Institutional capacity.

The top 12 ranked applications will be automatically funded based on excellence, as they define the top 20% of the 60 awards to be funded.
