Day of the Seafarer 2020
- The day of 25th June is observed as the Day of the Seafarer by the people across the world. this day pays respect to Seafarers and sailors who has helped or are helping the entire world function by conducting sea transport. in addition, this day will be considered as 10th anniversary on 25 June.
- 2020 campaign: Seafarers are Key Workers. The 2020 campaign means to boost and create an awareness of the work seafarers who have done during the pandemic and to thank them for their contributions. this day also pays to treat them with respect and dignity so they will continue the good work they have been doing.
History –
- in 2010, Diplomatic Conference in Manila adopted a resolution that was about to revised Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Convention. in the next year 2011, IMO observed 1st edition of the Day of the Seafarers.
