Cooperation ministry signs MoU to enable primary agricultural credit societies
In order to enable Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and provide services offered by Common Service Centres, CSCs, A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Cooperation, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, NABARD and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited in New Delhi.
- Primary Agricultural Credit Societies are the soul of cooperatives and making them multipurpose as providers of about 20 services will increase employment opportunities in rural areas.
First Tourism Working Group Meeting to be held in Gujarat from February 7
The first Tourism Working Group (TWG) Meeting will be held at Dhordo in Rann of Kutch in Gujarat between the 7th and 9th of February 2023. Union Minister of Tourism G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will participate in the inaugural session of the meeting on February 8th, 2023.
- The meeting will focus on five priority areas including Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, and Destination Management.
Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd introduces VIHANGAM Drone Technology and Latest Safety Equipment
Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) introduced drone technology in coal mines by launching a web-based portal VIHANGAM along with a drone and ground control system. The portal “VIHANGAM” aims to allow an authorised person to access real-time drone video from the mine through a dedicated 40 Mbps internet lease line near the mines. This pilot project is at present operational at Bhubaneswari and Lingraj opencast mines of Talcher Coalfields.
- The equipment can spray water up to 70 meters in the form of mist.
- The nozzle also termed a swivel nozzle, is installed on a water tanker of 28 kilolitres capacity.

Asia’s first floating festival commenced on February 1
Gandhisagar Floating Festival, touted as Asia’s first floating festival, was started on February 1 at Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. The first edition of the five-day floating festival has been inaugurated by Usha Thakur, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Religious Trust and Endowments, Government of Madhya Pradesh. It aims to offer a unique glamping and adventure experience to the tourists visiting Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh,” Madhya Pradesh Tourism wrote, sharing that the festival commenced with “the auspicious performances of Indian Ocean rock band” on February 1.
- Gandhisagar Floating Festival can also explore nearby places, including Buddhist Caves, Chaturbhuj Nala, Gandhisagar Sanctuary, Mandsaur Fort, Neemuch, Dharmarajeshwar Temple, and Pashupatinath Temple.

Department of Youth Affairs is going to organize Youth 20 Summit-2023 from the 6th to the 8th of February 2023 at Guwahati, Assam Under the framework of the G20 Presidency. Youth20 is one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20. The Youth20 (Y20) Engagement Group will arrange discussions pan-India, to consult the youth of the nation on ideas for a better tomorrow and draft an agenda for action. Y20 will also help in providing a platform for youth to express their perspectives and ideas on G20 priorities.

SpaceX successfully launched the 53 Starlink satellite on the milestone 200th Falcon 9 rocket flight lit up on 2nd February 2023, to low-Earth orbit from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Starlink satellites offer broadband internet in remote and rural locations.
