National

Govt allotted Rs 2700 for developing sewerage infrastructure in Ganga basin

The government approved projects for developing sewerage infrastructure in the Ganga basin during the 46th meeting of the executive committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG). the worth of the projects is around Rs 2,700 crore. 12 pertain projects are related to the development of sewerage infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

  • The projects will be implemented in collaboration with Patanjali Research Institute (PRI) & Patanjali Organic Research Institute (PORI), Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

IIT Roorkee, AIIMS Delhi Develop SwasthGarbh Mobile App For Pregnant Women

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) developed a smartphone App called ‘SwasthGarbh’ in collaboration with New Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to provide antenatal care and real-time medical support to pregnant women. The ‘SwasthGarbh’ smartphone App is the first pregnancy App that provides instantaneous access to doctor’s advice and is clinically endorsed as well as credible.

  • Both patients and doctors can take benefit of the App free of cost.
  • The SwasthGarbh app is available on the Google Play Store.
  • It will also send automatic notifications to the doctor and patient in case any parameter cross the normal range or any danger sign is present.

Anurag Thakur felicitates sports personalities for year 2020 by Madhya Pradesh Shikhar Khel Alankaran ceremony in Bhopal

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Thakur has honored sports personalities for the year 2020 by the Madhya Pradesh Shikhar Khel Alankaran ceremony in Bhopal. Thakur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled the logo of the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 which will be held in Madhya Pradesh.

  • He also said that players who win medals in the Khelo India Games will be provided an amount of 5,00,000 rupees every year for training.
  • The international-level stadium is being built at Barkheda Nathu near Bhopal.

International Book Fair in Tamil Nadu

The 46th Chennai International Book Fair will be conducted between 6th January 2023 and 22nd January 2023 at Nandanam YMCA Grounds with 800 stalls. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will also present the Muthamil Scholar Kalaignar Karunanidhi Porkizhi Award for the year 2023, the Best Publishers Award, and the Babasi Awards at the opening ceremony of the book fair.

Indian President inaugurated ‘PRASAD’ project in Andhra Pradesh

Indian President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the project “Development of Srisailam Temple in the State of Andhra Pradesh” today at Srisailam Temple Complex, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh under PRASHAD scheme viz. National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive of the Ministry of Tourism.

  • The project “Development of Srisailam Temple in the state of Andhra Pradesh” was completed with a cost of Rs. 43.08 crores.
  • Ministry of Tourism funded 100% of the project.

‘National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive’ (PRASHAD)

  • It is a Central Sector Scheme and was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in the year 2014-15.
  • The Scheme aims to focus on integrated infrastructure development to harness pilgrimage and heritage tourism destinations for its direct and multiplier effect upon employment generation and economic development.

Ministry of Power, DRDO sign MoU for Early Warning System

In order to implement an early warning system for vulnerable hydro projects or power stations, The Power Ministry signed an MoU with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on 27th December 2022. The ministry will jointly work towards developing suitable mitigation measures against avalanches, landslides, glaciers, glacial lakes, and other geo-hazards with DRDO.

  • The ministry took the initiative of implementing an Early Warning System (EWS) in the hydropower projects especially those located in the upper reaches of hilly regions.
  • The ministry signed MoUs with CSIR-NGRI, IMD, WIHG, and NRSC-ISRO for the implementation of EWS.

SN Jaya Murugan has been elected as Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Volleyball Association during the Annual general meeting of the Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association which was held at Vikravandi, Villupuram district.

South Korea Registers First Death Linked to ‘Brain-Eating Amoeba’

In South Korea, the first case of the deadly disease “brain-eating amoeba” was founded and A man passed away from the infection of Naegleria fowleri after returning from Thailand. The patient had symptoms of meningitis, such as headaches, fever, vomiting, slurred speech, and stiffness of the neck, on the evening of his arrival, and later, he was transferred to an emergency room the next day.

  • As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the national public health agency of the United States, Naegleria fowleri is an amoeba (single-celled living organism) that lives in soil and warm freshwaters, such as lakes, rivers, and hot springs.

Railways receives overall champion title of Women’s National Boxing Championship

Railways received the overall champion title in the Women’s National Boxing Championship 2022 and Madhya Pradesh team was declared as runner-up. the awards were distributed by Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.

  • Nikhat Zareen won her maiden Women’s National Boxing Championships title and beat Anamika of Railways 4-1 in the final.
  • Manisha of Haryana won the final match in the 57 kg category.
  • Women’s National Boxing Championship 2022 was organized between the 20th to 26th of December in Bhopal.
