India carries out successful training launch of intermediate range ballistic Agni-3 missile

India carried out a successful training launch of an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-3 from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-3 was launched for a predetermined range and validated all operational parameters of the system.

  • The Agni series of missiles include the Agni-1 (700km), Agni-2 (2,000km), Agni-3 (3,000 km), and Agni-4 (4,000 km), and the longest striking range of 5,000 km is the Agni -5.
  • Agni-1 with a 700 km range can target a minimum of 220 km.
  • India forces can target between 30 to 5,000 km with Agni and the tactical cruise missile BrahMos.
  • The BrahMos can target from 30 to 300kms.

Ferry Craft ‘Manjula’ (Yard 786)

On 23rd November 2022, Shri Binod Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary Transport launched Ferry Craft ‘Manjula’ (Yard 786) at M/s Shalimar Works Ltd, Kolkata, and West Bengal. Cmde Indrajit Dasgupta, Warship Production Superintendent (Kolkata) was also present.

  • Indian Govt concluded a Contract for the construction and delivery of seven 250 Men Ferry Craft with M/s Shalimar Works Ltd, Kolkata in consonance with “AatmaNirbhar Bharat” initiatives
  • Six Ferry Crafts have already been delivered at Port Blair, Visakhapatnam, and Mumbai.
  • The Ferry Craft will help in providing impetus to the operational and logistics requirements of the Indian Navy.

Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates Entrepreneurship Cell and Centre of Innovation at C-DOT campus, Delhi

Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw have inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Cell and Centre of Innovation, COI, at the Delhi campus of the Centre for Development of Telematics, C-DOT.

  • Ashwini Vaishnaw also reviewed C-DOT’s ongoing technology programs including 5G, Quantum Key Distribution, and advanced security projects.
  • On this occasion, The Minister interacted with young engineers and researchers involved in the design and development of Telecom technologies.

Sri Lanka passed a new law regarding drug possession

The Parliament of Sri Lanka passed the Narcotics, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Prohibition Bill. Narcotics, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Prohibition Bill has come into effect in Sri Lanka from 24 November 2022. the government of Sri Lanka will provide the death punishment or life imprisonment can be given for the possession or sale of more than 5 grams of ice-type drug.

Dubai ‘hypertower’ will be the world’s tallest residential structure

A new skyscraper in Dubai will be the world’s tallest residential building. this ‘hyperpower‘ will be taller than Manhattan’s 72-meter skyscraper. The structure, known as “Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences,” is by Emirati real estate developer Binghatti and watchmaker Jacob & Co.

  • the skyscraper will have 100 stories, twice more than the existing record-holder, Central Park Tower on 57th Street in Manhattan.
  • The structure will be located in the centre of Dubai’s business sector, Business Bay.

Nitin Gadkari approves 4-Laning of Bhiwani-Hansi road section of National Highway-148B

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari has approved 4-Laning of the Bhiwani-Hansi road section of NH-148B under Bharatmala Pariyojana in Bhiwani and Hisar districts. the project will have a budget of Rs.1322.13 Crore and will provide fast movement & good inter-district connectivity in Haryana.

  • It will also improve the overall efficiency of the long-route traffic and freight movement to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.
  • The project aims to boost the basic infrastructure in Haryana to give momentum to the overall economic development of the region.

Lt Gen Asim Munir appointed as new Pakistan Army chief

The former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency Lt Gen Asim Munir was appointed as the new chief of the Pakistan Army by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as a successor to General Qamar Bajwa. He will serve as Pakistan’s 17th army chief since it became independent. at present, Lieutenant General Munir is serving as the Quarter Master General at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

  • Lieutenant General Asim Munir also served as Corps Commander Gujranwala and headed Pakistan’s two most influential intelligence agencies – the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence.

  • He will take place of General Qamar Javed Bajwa whose six-year tenure as Pak army chief will end on November 29th, 2022.
  • Lieutenant General Munir is a holder of the Sword of Honour.

  • Lieutenant General Munir holds a graduation from the Officers Training School (OTS) in Mangla.
  • He was commissioned into the 23rd Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment.

Anwar Ibrahim elected as a new Prime Minister of Malaysia

On 19th November 2022, The 15th Parliamentary General Election for 2022 parliamentary constituencies in Malaysia was held. The general election King Abdullah of Malaysia announced that Anwar Ibrahim will be the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia and he will assume the post as Prime Minister on 24th November at 5 pm Indian Time.

Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise ‘Samanvay 2022’

Indian Air Force will join the Annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise ‘Samanvay 2022’ from 28 November 2022 to 30 November 2022 at Air Force Station Agra. the Annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise ‘Samanvay 2022’ aims to assess the efficacy of institutional Disaster Management structures and contingency measures, the exercise will comprise a seminar on Disaster Management, a ‘Multi-Agency Exercise’ involving static and flying displays of various HADR assets and a ‘Table Top Exercise’.

Samanvay 2022

  • Samanvay 2022 aims to promote a synergistic approach towards HADR by various national and regional stakeholders involved in Disaster Management including the Civil Administration, the Armed Forces, NDMA, NIDM, NDRF, DRDO, BRO, IMD, NRS, and INCOIS.
  • it will also provide a unique platform for the exchange of domain knowledge, experience, and best practices with the participating ASEAN member countries.

‘Kannada National Poet Kwembu Rashtriya Puraskar’ Award
