CMPDIL Invents New Dust Control Technology

Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL) invented a “System and Method for Controlling Generation and Movement of Fugitive Dust” for minimizing and controlling the fugitive dust in mining areas.

  • The system will be used in mines, thermal power plants, railway sidings, ports, and construction sites wherein coal or other minerals/fugitive materials are stored under the open sky.
  • It will also reduce dust generation from open sources and will provide noise attenuation.

First health working group meet under India’s G20 Presidency to be held from 18-20 January in Kerala

The first health working group meeting under India’s G20 Presidency will be held from the 18th to the 20th of January at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. The meeting aims to promote India’s traditional medicine, indigenous products like herbal tea, and recipes based on Ayurveda.

  • The meetings will include sessions and traditional medicine experts to share personalized diet and well-being tips with foreign delegates.

FSSAI releases standards for identification of basmati rice

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) specified the identity standards for basmati rice varieties, including brown, milled, parboiled, and milled parboiled. the identity standards will ensure the supply of standardized genuine rice in domestic and export markets.

  • As per these standards, Basmati rice will possess the natural fragrance characteristic of aromatic rice and be free from artificial coloring, polishing agents, and artificial fragrances.
  • The FSSAI norms aim to establish fair practices in trade and protect consumer interests, both domestically and globally.
  • The standards will be enforced from August 1, 2023.

Most punctual airports in the world list 2023

Official Airline Guides has released a list of regularly 20 most punctual airports and airlines worldwide. as per the List of 20 most punctual airports in the world, Japan’s Osaka International Airport ranked 1st place. Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore Airport, operated by the Airports Authority of India, has been ranked 13th place in the list.

  • Indonesia’s Garuda Indonesia Airlines is ranked 1st in the list in the category of non-scheduled airlines. IndiGo, India’s largest airline is ranked 15th place in the list.

Diaspora Tamil Day Festival 2023

Every year, Diaspora Tamil Day is observed on January 12th to unify the Tamil associations abroad and to celebrate the achievements of the Tamils in the Diaspora. A two-day seminar was begun on January 11, 2023, at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai on the occasion of the Diaspora Tamil Day.

India’s first 5G enabled drone developed by Noida’s IG Drones

Noida’s IG Drones has developed a 5G-enabled drone named “Skyhawk” that is capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). The drone Skyhawk will be used in defense and medical applications, among other sectors. The drone can carry a 10 kg payload and has an endurance of around five hours.

Centre clears Rs 2,600 cr scheme to promote RuPay, BHIM-UPI

The Union Cabinet approved the incentive scheme for the promotion of RuPay Debit Cards and low-value BHIM-UPI transactions (person-to-merchant) for a period of one year from April 2022. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav announced the financial outlay of ₹ 2,600 crores for the scheme. Under the scheme, acquiring banks will be provided financial incentives for promoting Point-of-sale (PoS) and e-commerce transactions using RuPay Debit Cards and low-value BHIM-UPI transactions.

  • This incentive scheme will help in facilitating the building of a digital payment ecosystem and promoting RuPay Debit Card and BHIM-UPI digital transactions.
  • The scheme aims to promote UPI Lite and UPI 123PAY as economical and user-friendly digital payments solutions and will enable penetration of digital payments across all sectors and segments of the population.

Indian High Commission signs MoU to establish Hindi Chair at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka

Indian High Commission signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a Hindi Chair at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. the MoU was signed after the International Hindi Diwas. MoU was signed by High Commissioner Gopal Baglay and Vice Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University Prof. Udaya Rathnayake, aimed at establishing the Hindi Chair as part of India’s cultural connect through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

  • The Hindi chair will familiarize students with India, its history, and culture as well as pave way for popularising Hindi by deputing Indian faculties.

Indian player Virat Kohli has moved up 2 places to 6th place. India’s Rohit Sharma has placed at 8th place.
