The Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) offers the scholarship to high school seniors and college students in the United States who want to career in aviation or aircraft maintenance. So far, the Foundation has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to students and staff of AEA member organizations seeking careers in aircraft technology and aviation maintenance. The award is offered in memory of Chuck Freeland, former AEA board member and secretary, and will be used for achieving a PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE. It will cover flight training costs only.

Eligibility Criteria

- Must be employed by an AEA Member for no less than one year.
- Must plan to pursue a PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE within six months of receiving a scholarship.
Application Process
Here’s, what you must provide besides your application.
- Write an essay of not more than 200 words explaining, “Why you believe having a pilot’s license will benefit you and your employer.” Important: essay must be typed and double spaced.
- Submit the attached letter of recommendation as completed by your employer.
