Chhattisgarh Launches Millet Mission, A step to become Millet Hub Of India
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh state Shri Bhupesh Baghel has launched ‘Millet Mission” the aim of the Millet Mission is to provide farmers with a proper price rate for minor cereal crops. the state govt has expected that the Millet Mission initiative will help the state to become India’s millet hub.
- The Millet Mission initiative will also provide input support, create purchasing arrangements, and aid farmers in the processing of crops to the state’s farmers.
- The state govt has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR), Hyderabad, and the collectors of 14 districts of the state.
- Under the Millet Mission, Farmers who will produce Kodo-Kutki and Ragi crops rather than paddy crops will be provided an input support of Rs 9,000 for each acre.
