The Bertha Parker Cody Award for Native American Women is available to all Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiian women as well as Indigenous Pacific Islanders. The program is offered to undergraduate or postgraduate female students who are pursuing their degrees in the fields of archaeology or museum studies.
The Bertha Parker Cody Award includes one female student $4,000 to contribute to their studies, covering tuition fees, stationery, textbooks, travelling, or accommodation. Also, scholars will be granted a one-year-long SAA membership.

Application Process
To apply for the program, you will have to submit your application.
- An application form
- Two letters of recommendation, including one from a current SAA member in good standing, that describe the applicant’s past successes and future potentials;
- A personal statement
- An itemized budget that is coherent, realistic, and well-justified
- Documentation of Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian identity.

Selection Process
You must be Native American, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian descent to qualify for the scholarship. Applicants must have two recommendations, one being from a member of the SAA whom you are in good standing with. The second letter needs to detail your potential for the past, as well as your past achievements and success.
