Benito Pablo Juárez García was born on March 21, 1806, in San Pablo Guelatao, Oaxaca. He started his career as a lawyer and later, became a state legislator, civil judge, government secretary, and governor. On January 15, 1858, he was appointed as president of Mexico and made reforms.
